Jennifer Aniston definitely has the right idea. When you start laughing at your own life, people laugh with you. It is much better than them laughing at you. On Friday night, the actress took her trophy at Women in Film Awards in Culver City, Calif., and made a speech that joked about her love life.
Although the actress has not been very lucky in the relationship department, she really understands how to laugh it all off. Host, Chelsea Handler presented the actress with the Crystal Award for Excellence in Film."You have increased the visibility of women in film, and we thank you for that," Handler said as she presented the award. "You've recently decreased the visibility of John Mayer, so we thank you for that [too]." Aniston took that statement very well as she buried her head in her hands and laughed uncontrollably.
The former "Friends" star accepted the award for expanding the role of women in the entertainment industry and pointed out to the audience that her on-screen roles have some creepy resemblance to her own life.
"It's funny I kind of noticed something a couple years ago that there seemed to be this strange parallel to the movies I was doing and my life off screen," Aniston said while accepting her trophy. "It started with, well, 'The Good Girl' then that evolved into 'Rumor Has It', followed by 'Derailed', and then there was 'The Break-Up.' And then on the lighter side was 'Friends with Money', which I felt was a bit on the nose."
She hinted at wanting to find a good stable man.
"If anyone has a movie called Everlasting Love With an Adult Stable Man
.I'm at table six, and my agents are at table 12."
She took a trip down memory lane when she acknowledged the significance the television show "Friends" had on her life in which she would be forever grateful.
"To go from that experience, which honestly was the highlight of my life, to then be here standing in front of you being honored for my work in film and being allowed that transition is truly quite humbling."
