Justin Timberlake didn't necessarily say Britney Spears's name in his song, "Cry Me a River," but we all knew it was about her. Did John Mayer do the same thing? It's been a month since Mayer split from Jennifer Aniston. According to People, he debuted a new song, entitled "Heartbreak Warfare."
Aniston's name wasn't mentioned on the track but there are phrases that could be based on their relationship, such as the chorus, "If you want more love, why don't you say so?"
In an audio clip from YouTube, Mayer told his fans on the Mayercraft Carrier 2 cruise that this song will be a part of his upcoming album, Battle Studies.
"The concept of the album is the war of love the art of war of love," Mayer said to the crowd. "Sometimes instead of saying 'I love you,' people can't recognize that. They recognize how much you come to their aid when they are in pain."
Since the fan cruise is over, Mayer is going back into the studio to record his next album.
"I gave myself a nine to five," he told People. "I'm making myself wake up and be a writer. It's great."
