Jennifer Aniston will star in the film "Goree Girls," a true story about an all female country band in a Texas prison in the '40s. Production will begin in January.
The film is based on an article that appeared in Texas Monthly in 2003 titled "O Sister, Where Art Thou?" The story is about a popular musical group of eight women who were serving time for crimes such as murder and robbery, according to AHN. Fans knew them as the Goree All Girl String Band. The women were eventually pardoned.
Michael Sucsy, who worked on HBO's "Grey Gardens," will direct the film. He told Daily Variety that both projects are about music and survivors.
"There is something about music that invigorates the spirit to keep going, even when you don't have freedom," he said.
Although Aniston just finished work on "The Baster" with Jason Bateman, she will be seen next in the romantic comedy "Love Happens" with Aaron Eckhart.
