From 1994 through 2004, NBC’s Friends sitcom was one of the most popular shows on network television. It generated consistently successful ratings and the series finale, which aired in 2004, is the fourth most-viewed finale in television history. Actress Courteney Cox took part in an interview with The Los Angeles Times to reminisce about her days as a castmember on Friends and discuss the possibility of a movie based on the long-running NBC sitcom.
Cox revealed that she has daydreamed about the possibility of a Friends movie along with former castmate Jennifer Aniston. Although she did not shed specific details, the star of Cougar Town told The Los Angeles Times that Aniston has a great idea for a Friends film that would reunite all of the sitcom’s most prominent stars, including herself, Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer.
She responded to the recently released Sex and the City 2 by saying, “I wish we could do that with Friends. The thing is, the characters from Sex and the City hopped all over Manhattan. On Friends, we were always stuck in the apartment and that coffeehouse.”
Although Cox was enthusiastic when she discussed the possibility of a Friends movie, she does not appear overly optimistic about her and Aniston’s daydream coming to fruition. She said, “I don’t think it’s going to happen. A lot of things would have to break just right for it to work. But we’ve daydreamed about it.”
