Jennifer Aniston responded to Bill O’Reilly’s criticisms of her modern takes on single motherhood. The actress jokingly commented on O’Reilly’s declaration that her comments were “destructive to society.”
“Of course, the ideal scenario for parenting is obviously two parents of a mature age. Parenting is one of the hardest jobs on earth. And, of course, many women dream of finding Prince Charming, with fatherly instincts, but for those who've not yet found their Bill O'Reilly, I'm just glad science has provided a few other options,” Aniston told People Magazine.
Aniston spoke about single motherhood at a press junket for her new movie The Switich. In the film, Aniston's character chooses to become a mother through artificial insemination.
"Women are realizing it more and more knowing that they don't have to settle with a man just to have that child. Times have changed and that is also what is amazing is that we do have so many options these days, as opposed to our parents' days when you can't have children because you have waited too long," Aniston said during a press conference.
Those earlier comments prompted O’Reilly to talk about Aniston’s views on his Fox News Show The O’Reilly Factor.
"That is destructive to our society…Dads bring a psychology to children that is in this society, I believe, under-emphasized. I think men get hosed all day long in the parental arena,” O’Reilly said.
His co-host Gretchen Carlson added, "She is glamorizing single parenthood."
